GENEVA Summer Experience
About my GENEVA
Experience
I worked at GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center the summers of 2020 and 2021 in Holland, MI. GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center is a summer camp for kids to experience God, and grow deeper in their faith. As the Arts & Crafts Counselor, I budgeted, planned, and taught visual arts lessons that inspired campers in their visual arts experiences and in faith-formation. I learned how to create engaging lessons that explored the visual arts as a form of worship and faith reflection for campers and for myself.
For the summer of 2020, I was the Arts & Crafts Counselor at Pines, the camp for 7th-9th graders. For the summer of 2021, I was the Arts & Crafts Counselor at Shores, the camp for 3rd-6th graders. In both of these opportunities, I planned lessons that have connections to the camp Bible Study and basic theology of the Christian faith. In the summer of 2021, I also worked alongside local artist Joel Schoon-Tanis during creation week, where we created a large art piece that incorporated student artwork.
